Tourist information and support

In addition to the actual tourism operators, there is a general tourist information service provided by the council. "The Farm Shed"  tourist centre is located at 50 Moonta Road, Kadina. Tel (08) 8821 2333 Additionally, some information is available at the council library and offices in the old railway station on John Terrace, Wallaroo.

Community Transport

For those who are not able to drive independently, yp Community Transport provides various services to members of the community. It is a volunteer organisation dealing with many transport issues affecting members of the community, such as transporting people to hospitals, and carrying wheel chair patients to various destinations, all at low cost. Check their website to see if they may be able to help you.

National Trust

The Wallaroo branch of the National Trust operates the Heritage and Nautical Museum, and can be contacted through that establisment.

Post Office

The Wallaroo Post Office handles most of the functions of a modern post office. An exception is passports, but these can be handled by the nearby Kadina Post Office.

Library service

Domestic Waste Collection

A domestic waste collection service is provided by the Council. Normal garbage is collected weekly, and recyclables are collected fortnightly. Click here for connection to the council website where a list of times is provided for when collection is carried out in the respective areas. Additionally, a recycling depot is open on the Alford road, just past the last marina turnoff into Pommern Way. It is available Saturdays, Sundays, Mondays and Wednesdays from 9 am to 4 pm.


If you are looking to move to Wallaroo, and you have children, then these are your options for schooling.

For the very young, there is Wallaroo Preschool Centre at 11 Elizabeth Street, Wallaroo, phone (08) 8823 2389 

For Primary school children, there are two options. 
There is the Wallaroo Primary School , on Hughes Street, Wallaroo, phone (08) 8823 2190
Also there is the St Mary Mackillop School, at 6 Young street, Wallaroo, phone (08) 8823 2549

For secondary schooling, the closest option is the Kadina Memorial High School,  just 7 kms away from Wallaroo, phone (08) 8821 0460.


For ANZ, Commonwealth Bank, and NAB, the nearest branches are in Kadina (just 7kms from Wallaroo), all within sight of each other in Graves Street, which is the main shopping street, and all have ATMs. The closest Westpac branch is in Ardrossan, however withdrawals can be made from Bank SA ATMs, of which there is one in Kadina at 49 Taylor Street.
